تنهائ Solitude

تنہائیِ شب میں ہے حزیں کیا

انجم نہیں تیرے ہم نشیں کیا؟

What sadness is in the solitude of the night?

Are the stars not your companions?

یہ رفعتِ آسمانِ خاموش

خوابیدہ زمیں، جہانِ خاموش

This majesty of the sky silent,

the sleepy earth, the world silent,

یہ چاند، یہ دشت و در، یہ کُہسار

فطرت ہے تمام نسترن زار

this moon, this wilderness, this mountain-peak,

the whole of creation is a garden of white roses.

موتی خوش رنگ، پیارے پیارے

یعنی ترے آنسوؤں کے تارے

Pearls effulgent, so delightful:

the stars which are your tears!

کس شے کی تجھے ہوَس ہے اے دل

قُدرت تری ہم نفَس ہے اے دل

What [more] do you desire, oh heart?

The universe is your soulmate, oh heart!
